I bought a new camera a few months ago. I got a Canon A-1 SLR. I finally took it out last week. Here a few shots I took around the city in Brisbane.

I've been listening to Defiance, Ohio on repeat lately. Whilst looking up lyrics I found this quote by them:

I'm working on a poster series about Australian's who ignite hate and persecution in our culture. Here is the first two offenders:

John Howard: After years of ignoring Indeginous health issues, and Indiginous land-rights, Howard decided to treat Aborignal's like second class citizens by banning alcohol and pornography, quarantining welfare payments, abolishing a permit system that limits access to remote communities, and mobilising extra police and troops in Aboriginal communities.
His legacy still lives on.

My concept for the end of year exhibition and catalogue at The Queensland College of Art in Brisbane Australia.

My rationale:

The oyster as a symbol of what the world is to us now. With an education focused on professional practise and conceptual design ideas, we can take our skills into the workforce – anywhere.

The oyster as a symbol for design – with it’s many forms, distinctive shape and colour, it’s imaginative design to protect and grow – this is what we learn to do at QCA.

This is an original photo I commissioned. Taken by Charlie Hillhouse (QCA photography student).

The inside spread has 20-part grid. The arrangement of images can be changed depending on the designers work. This grid is successful in producing a rhythmic pattern from page to page."

I'm working on an architects website at the moment, and one of the sections that I had to try and touch up photos for was of the River Quays building in the ville. Got a little bit proud of my little city home when I saw castle hill, no one at work gave a shit though, hahaha!

I'm really looking forward to this new project of Zack De La Rocha and Jon theodore. The first track is really great. I think it has a really interesting sound. After feeling a little jaded at seeing rage against the machine at big day out, I think this will re-ignite my love for the music and politics of zack De La Rocha.

Mount A Goat

I had an assignment to redesign the beer label of the Melbourne micro brewery MOUNTAIN GOAT. I wanted my label to be sophisticated, male, and strong, and represent the price of this beer ($19 a six pack). I felt that the labels they use at the moment, is trying to be quirky but that is getting lost and it just looks tacky, or more like a energy drink.

My argument was that media saturation, in particular digital media is having a big effect on my generation, and we do not know the implications. I took the text from Design Anarchy by Kalle Lasn, and created these five posters.

Been a while since I posted. I don't have the internet where I'm living.

Here are 3 information system posters I had to make. it was a pretty hard assignment to crack, but once I did it was fairly easy. I'm pretty sure its finished, It's due tommorow, and I think it feels done.

I know I know, the bands I have included on the band page are limited, I couldn't put every band I wanted to, so I just kept it to the bigger ones.

Also I just ripped all the text off wikipedia.

Also, here is a poster I did for the Humane Society, just need to work on the composition a bit more, make the logos a little smaller, but other then that I feel this is a pretty strong piece. note: the pink looks better printed!

I got sent this CD to review, and most CD's I get sent are normally pretty bad. This CD is really good. I don’t know who they are or where they are from but I suggest you check them out! The CD is short and smart punk rock. They sound like Hot Snakes, Queens of The Stone Age, Rocket From the Crypt, Icarus Line and Minor Threat all rolled into one!

I went and saw My Disco and Ground Components on Friday night. My Disco are by far the tightest band I have ever seen. They were so fucking good, you really have to see them. Here's some dodgy fireworks photos of them, if you have ever seen them you would know what is going on.

Bad Teeth Exhibition

Went and checked out the Bad Teeth and Simon exhibition at the Metro today. It is really good, if your in Brisbane make sure you go and check it out. I got the new bad teeth book too, it is really slick, like a proper book. Only 150 made so keep your eye out for it. I also got a painting called too late!!! Will post photo when I pick it up.

so I haven't really started using this blog yet. so here is a catch up on everything i have been doing these last few months in descending order.

Last weekend I went Semi-Permanent in Sydney. It was unreal. I love Sydney, i don't know why everyone hates it so much. It sucked because I was so poor. Arrested Development played at the after party!!!

The highlight for me was James Jean. Here are a couple of shots of his talk.

18th of March - My 21st Birthday. My brother Ben put on a Hangi for me. A hangi is a tradition Maori way of cooking food. What you do is dig a hole and put wood and rocks over top of it and burn it all down, until you have hot rocks then you chuck food in there wrapped up and cover it over with dirt. It was so fucking good. Never tasted anything like it before. Thanks ben! (he got up at 6am to start this). The only shit thing that happened was that vodafone fucked up and i could'nt receive any calls, and my friend Kati was waiting at the train station for me to pick her up and she couldn't get a hold of me and didn't know where the place was, and she had ice cream, and I haven't seen her in a long time, and it really pissed me off when I found out what happened, I felt really bad, not that it was my fault, i felt sick when all the messages came through from people the next day. Also only alex and leo showed up, i dont have too many friends in brisbane, but there was enough food for 20. Anyway, still a good day.

I went to the laneway Festival in the valley. This is a really awesome festival, if your thinking about 1 music festival a year try and go to this one, because it is so small and laid back, no dickheads there, cheap drink blah blah, and some good bands!

Last was midnight juggernauts, and they really finihsed off the day well, I had seen them before when they supported gerling and i hated them, they had a drummer this time and it went nuts, the whole zoo was bouncing.

Then I ran into Katelyn from uni and her friend.

I think this is temper trap, they were the highlight of the day, amazing live band.

Then I went and saw Strike Anywhere at 299 one night, they were okay.

Then Shane and all them went to some gamin festival, but Suicidal Tendencies were playing there, so I snuck in and saw them and a little of the deftones.

I went and visited my parents at the airport, they had a 4 hour stop off on their way to NZ. Here is one of my favourite local writers EIK on the train line.

On the 21st I went and saw NOFX. The one band I wanted to see before I died. They have been my favourite band ever since I got into music. My first CD I bought was a NOFX one about 9 years ago! Shane, Nightsy and Rick came down from Townsville, it was so much fun. This is us at ALex and Katis after, which is where I live now!

On my last day in Newcastle, Jade took us surfing at this beautiful beach.

We went to kings cross after big day out, big fucking mistake, what a shit wank hole, we were so wrecked, so i headed home by myself (lucky not to get stabbed) and saw this limp wrist poster!

I went to big day out, which was so good, I've been to the goldcoast one a few times and the Melbourne one, and Sydney is by far the best venue. The ground is all covered with these plastic tiles, which dan stole one of, and the boiler room is a huge air conditioned hall.

there were a lot of dumb cunts there with flags, and new southern cross tattoos. I was going to wear an iraq flag, but didn't want to die, then someone mentioned that no one would even know what it was anyway. I heard the the southern cross stars are moving and now look different, so every one is going to have to get their tattoos surgically removed and get the new ones put on, and anyway since when have bogans been into astrology anyway?!

I finally saw a kinkos, after hearing about them for years through zines, and how people hang out there all night copying zines and rocking out, i was disappointed to find out that its owned by fedex and not cool at all.

I went and checked out the NSW art gallery which is really cool, I liked this painting by Jenny Watson, which was in the exhibition section.
